Choose decaf pods by the system your machine accepts before comparing drink styles: Nespresso Original, Nespresso Vertuo, Tassimo and Dolce Gusto use different formats. For an online grocery order, check the exact pack’s compatibility, ingredients and capsule count, then confirm that it can be added to your chosen delivery or collection slot.
Start with the machine on your counter. Nespresso Original, Vertuo, Tassimo and Dolce Gusto pods have different compatibility requirements; a decaf label alone does not tell you which machine can use them.
Check the drink named on the pack as well as its format. Ocado lists Kenco’s Tassimo decaf Americano, while Nescafé Dolce Gusto lists Americano Decaf and Café au Lait Decaf among its options.
Do not assume every decaf capsule contains only coffee. Ocado’s listing for Nescafé Dolce Gusto Café au Lait Decaffeinato names whole milk powder; check the ingredients and allergen information for the exact pack before ordering.
Identify the machine system first, then narrow the compatible pods by drink style and ingredients before checking the pack in your grocery basket.
| Priority | What to check | Your needs |
|---|---|---|
| Machine fit | Match the pack’s stated system to your machine. Nespresso UK distinguishes Original from Vertuo; check Original-compatible, Tassimo and Dolce Gusto products against their own stated machine requirements. | I already have a pod machine and need decaf capsules that fit it, rather than a pack described only as Nespresso-compatible or decaf. |
| Drink style | Look for espresso, lungo, Americano or milk-coffee wording and any stated serving size. The drink name does not replace a compatibility check. | For a longer cup, I would compare options such as CafePod’s Original-compatible Brunch Blend lungo or a Dolce Gusto Americano, depending on my machine. |
| Ingredients | Read the exact product’s ingredients and allergen information. Ocado lists whole milk powder in Nescafé Dolce Gusto Café au Lait Decaffeinato. | If I avoid milk, I need to check a milk-coffee capsule separately rather than treating it as interchangeable with a black-coffee Americano. |
| Pack and delivery | Confirm capsule count, the selected product variant and availability for your delivery or collection slot. Ocado lists an 18-pod CafePod Brunch Blend pack and a 16-capsule Tassimo Kenco Americano Decaff pack. | I want the pack I choose to contain enough capsules for my planned use and to be available with the rest of my grocery order. |
Nespresso UK identifies Original and Vertuo as separate systems. A pack labelled Original-compatible should not be treated as a Vertuo pod.
Check the machine name and the pack’s explicit compatibility statement before adding decaf capsules to your basket.
Ocado’s Nescafé Dolce Gusto Café au Lait Decaffeinato listing includes whole milk powder. Its ingredient profile differs from a black-coffee capsule.
Read the ingredients and allergen information for the exact variant, particularly when choosing a café-au-lait or other milk-coffee drink.
An intensity description concerns the product’s stated coffee style; it does not by itself establish that a pod is decaffeinated or show how large a drink it makes.
Look for an explicit decaf description, the required machine system and the intended drink style on the same product listing.
These product lines illustrate different pod systems and grocery-order checks; a brand name alone does not establish compatibility with your machine.
Dolce Gusto’s UK decaf range includes Americano Decaf, Café au Lait Decaf and Lungo Decaf.
Ocado lists Kenco Americano Decaff as a 16-capsule Tassimo product.
Ocado lists M&S Fairtrade Decaf Coffee Pods as medium-roast, 100% Arabica pods described as compatible with Nespresso.
Tesco Groceries lists Finest Decaffeinated Accordo Coffee Capsules in its online coffee range.
