Do not plan to take a frozen sharing bag through UK airport security in hand luggage: GOV.UK says frozen food cannot usually be carried, although exceptions can apply. If everyone will eat before security or before leaving for the airport, choose a pack by the number and size of its lollies, then check the exact pack for allergens and frozen-storage instructions. A multipack is not a reliable plan for food after security unless you have checked what is available at your departure airport.
If the lollies would go into your hand luggage, decide when they will be eaten before choosing a pack. GOV.UK says frozen food cannot usually pass through security in hand luggage; a non-frozen snack is the more practical plan for that part of the journey.
For lollies eaten before leaving home or before entering security, count the people eating and compare individual portions. The checked packs include five 80ml Calippo Minis, six 50ml Twister Mini Tropicals and ten 35ml Mini Milks, as listed by Joybuy UK and ASDA Groceries.
The checked Calippo Mini Orange & Lemon-Lime page lists no allergens. ASDA Groceries lists milk in the checked Twister Mini Tropical and Mini Milk packs, alongside precautionary allergen information. Check the label on the exact pack before sharing it.
Decide where the lollies will be eaten first. If that is before security, compare portions, labels and storage instructions for the group.
| Priority | What to check | Your needs |
|---|---|---|
| Security | GOV.UK says frozen food cannot usually be carried through UK airport security in hand luggage. Check your departure airport for any applicable exception; rules may differ on a return journey. | I need food for after security, so I should not rely on carrying a frozen multipack through in my cabin bag. |
| Portions | Compare both count and volume per lolly. Joybuy UK lists Calippo Mini Orange & Lemon-Lime at 5 × 80ml; ASDA Groceries lists Twister Mini Tropical at 6 × 50ml and Mini Milk at 10 × 35ml. | There should be enough individual lollies for everyone eating before security, without assuming that packs with more pieces have the same portion size. |
| Allergens | Read the ingredients and precautionary statements on the exact pack. The checked Calippo page lists no allergens; the checked Twister Mini Tropical and Mini Milk listings both state that they contain milk. | If anyone in our group avoids an ingredient, I need to check the supplied pack rather than treat fruit ice and milk-based lollies as interchangeable. |
| Frozen storage | Check how the pack must be stored and whether it can be refrozen. Joybuy UK says the checked Calippo Minis must be kept at −18°C or colder and not refrozen after thawing. | We will eat the lollies while they can still be kept frozen until serving, rather than plan to save a thawed pack for later. |
