Who is this for?

Standing-desk booking coordinators

If you regularly update hall availability at one workstation, the screen needs to remain suitably positioned as you change posture. The Health and Safety Executive advises placing the top of the screen level with your eyes and the screen about an arm’s length away.

Laptop-based facilities teams

If your booking system runs on a work laptop, check whether a monitor can carry the required video signal and supply enough power before planning a single-cable setup. Dell, LG and BenQ list different USB-C power-delivery limits for the models discussed below.

Teams displaying a shared schedule

If reception staff or venue colleagues need to view the hall schedule together, a separately installed display may serve that shared task. It does not replace a suitably positioned screen for the person entering bookings.

What matters when choosing?

Start with the booking operator’s screen position and working distance, then check calendar layout and laptop connections. Treat visibility for other people as a separate display requirement.

ConcernWhat to checkWho this matters to
Screen position Compare the stand or arm’s adjustment range with the position you need when sitting and standing; check that its mount fits the desk. If I change desk height during booking work, I need to reposition the screen without straining to see it. Around 33% of consumers put this adjustment first.
Calendar readability Try the booking application’s scaling and window layout at your usual viewing distance; check that the screen fits the desk. When room names, dates and overlapping reservations fill my calendar, I want a layout I can read without constant scrolling. This is the first concern for around 27% of consumers.
Laptop connection Check laptop USB-C video support, charging requirements and the monitor’s stated power-delivery limit. I connect a work laptop at the desk and want the display and charging arrangement to suit it without unnecessary cable changes. Around 27% of consumers prioritise that connection.
Shared visibility Check how many people must read the schedule, where they will stand and how a separate display would be mounted and updated. If colleagues need to follow the live hall schedule away from my workstation, I need a screen placed for them rather than only for close-up entry. That shared view comes first for around 13% of consumers.

What should you avoid?

  • Choosing screen size before planning its position

A larger panel does not ensure that its top stays at a suitable height when the desk moves. The Health and Safety Executive’s screen-position guidance still applies to close-up booking work.

Measure desk depth and compare the stand or arm’s movement with the position you need while standing.

If the supplied stand cannot reach that position, a compatible arm or different mounting arrangement may be needed.

  • Assuming every USB-C port provides one-cable docking

A USB-C connection does not, by itself, establish that the laptop, cable and monitor support the required video and charging arrangement.

Check the laptop’s USB-C video capability and charging requirement against the monitor’s connection details and power-delivery limit.

  • Using a shared display as the operator’s only screen

A large-format display intended to show a schedule to several people does not automatically suit close-up booking entry or the operator’s screen position.

Plan the individual workstation first; add a shared display if other people need a view of the schedule.

A separate display also needs a suitable mounting location, power routing and a way to manage its content.

  • Assuming a clamp stand fits the desk

An adjustable C-clamp stand is useful only if the desk edge and surrounding space allow it to be fitted securely.

Inspect the edge, thickness, cable tray and available clearance before choosing a clamp-mounted model.

Relevant brands to consider

Dell

Dell lists both adjustable desktop monitors and larger collaboration displays.

  • The P2725QE is a 27-inch 4K USB-C hub monitor with 150 mm of stated height adjustment and power delivery up to 90 W, according to Dell.
  • Dell positions the much larger P5525QC for team collaboration; its size alone is not a reason to choose it for close-up booking entry.

LG

LG offers a desktop option for workstations where screen repositioning is important.

  • LG lists a 31.5-inch 4K IPS panel and an included adjustable C-clamp stand for the 32UN880K-B.
  • Its stated USB-C power delivery is up to 60 W; check both laptop charging needs and whether the clamp fits the desk.

BenQ

BenQ’s RD280UA offers a taller screen format and a flexible-arm desktop arrangement.

  • BenQ specifies a 3840 × 2560, 3:2 panel, 130 mm height adjustment and USB-C power delivery up to 90 W for the RD280UA.
  • Check how the booking application scales on its 3:2 screen and whether the arm suits the desk; BenQ’s programming-focused positioning does not establish a booking-software advantage.

ViewSonic

ViewSonic’s commercial-display range is relevant to a separately placed hall-schedule board.

  • ViewSonic positions the 55-inch 4K CDE5530 for continuous communication, with portrait or landscape operation and remote management.
  • A shared display still leaves the booking operator needing an appropriately positioned workstation screen.

HP

HP lists a conventional 27-inch QHD USB-C hub-monitor option.

  • HP lists USB-C, a USB hub, DisplayPort and DisplayPort-out connectivity for the Series 5 Pro 527pu.
  • If sit-stand adjustment is the deciding factor, confirm the 527pu’s stand range before choosing it.

Frequently asked questions

Does a hall-booking workstation need a display-screen assessment?

For UK workers who use display screen equipment daily as part of their normal work for continuous periods of an hour or more, the Health and Safety Executive says employers must carry out a workstation assessment. That assessment considers the workstation, the job and individual requirements; monitor size alone does not settle the setup.

Where should the screen sit when I stand to enter bookings?

The Health and Safety Executive advises positioning the top of the screen level with your eyes and the screen about an arm’s length away. Recheck that position when the desk height changes, and make sure the stand or compatible arm can reach it.

Will any USB-C monitor display my booking system and charge my laptop?

No: the laptop, monitor and cable must support the required video connection, and the monitor’s power delivery must suit the laptop’s charging needs. For comparison, LG states up to 60 W for its 32UN880K-B, while Dell and BenQ state up to 90 W for the P2725QE and RD280UA respectively.

When does a hall schedule need a large-format display?

Consider a separately placed large-format display when several people need to see the hall schedule or it must remain visible as a shared information board. ViewSonic positions its CDE5530 for continuous communication and remote management; the person entering bookings still needs a screen positioned for close-up workstation use.
