Detailed document reviewers
If you compare a draft with comments, source material or another document, start with the screen size, resolution and window layout you can use comfortably.
For draft-report reviews, decide whether a 27-inch QHD screen gives you enough room for the documents you use together, or whether you want the higher pixel resolution of a 27-inch or larger 4K screen. Check how the monitor fits your desk, how far its stand adjusts and whether its connections suit your computer. Health and Safety Executive guidance also treats lighting, posture and breaks as part of comfortable screen work.
If you compare a draft with comments, source material or another document, start with the screen size, resolution and window layout you can use comfortably.
If you spend sustained periods at a report, screen positioning and reflections matter alongside the wider desk setup. Health and Safety Executive guidance also points to lighting, posture and breaks; a monitor feature cannot replace those checks.
If you want video, charging and peripherals connected through fewer cables, check the laptop’s video output and charging needs against the exact monitor’s ports and power delivery.
Work out your usual document layout first, then check screen positioning and computer connections against the space on your desk.
| Concern | What to check | Who this matters to |
|---|---|---|
| Document workspace | Compare screen size and native resolution, then check your usual window layout and preferred text scaling. | If I keep a draft beside comments or source material, I want enough visible detail without making the text uncomfortable to read. Around 42% of consumers put document workspace first. |
| Screen positioning and reflections | Check stand adjustment or mount compatibility, and assess reflections at your desk. | For a long review session, I need to position the screen around my chair and lighting rather than rely on a comfort feature alone. Roughly 33% of consumers prioritise screen positioning and visual comfort. |
| Laptop connection | Confirm USB-C video support, the monitor’s charging wattage and any cable or hub you need. | If I connect a laptop each day, I want a simpler desk connection that still handles its video and charging requirements. About 25% of consumers make laptop connectivity their primary concern. |
A 27-inch QHD screen and a 27-inch 4K screen have the same diagonal measurement but different native resolutions. Neither measurement tells you on its own how your preferred document layout and text size will feel.
Compare size and resolution together, and try your usual window arrangement and scaling settings where possible.
USB-C power delivery differs between models: LG specifies up to 15W for the 27U631A-B, while Dell specifies up to 140W for the U3225QE. The laptop must also support the intended video connection.
Check the laptop’s video output and charging requirement against the monitor’s rating and the cable needed.
LG says the USB-C cable for the 27U631A-B is sold separately.
Health and Safety Executive guidance considers screen position, lighting and breaks alongside the wider workstation. A display setting cannot correct an awkward chair or persistent glare.
Assess the desk, seating and light before choosing a screen. Where a workplace display-screen-equipment assessment applies, include the home setup in that discussion.
ASUS lists wide colour-gamut coverage and factory calibration for the ProArt PA279CRV. Those specifications address colour-sensitive work rather than a stated requirement for reading and commenting on text.
If your reports include colour-sensitive visual assets, assess those features; otherwise concentrate on document layout, positioning and connections.
LG’s 27U631A-B is a 27-inch QHD office-monitor example with USB-C connectivity.
HP’s 527pu and E27u G5 are distinct QHD USB-C monitor options for desk-based work.
Dell’s UltraSharp U3225QE represents a larger 31.5-inch 4K monitor with an integrated hub.
The PA279CRV is a 27-inch 4K model with features aimed at colour-managed work.
These QHD and 4K monitors offer different screen formats for reviewing a draft at home. Compare each one with your document layout, desk space and laptop before choosing.

They can apply to home workers. The Health and Safety Executive says the regulations cover workers who use display screen equipment daily for continuous periods of an hour or more and can apply to permanent or long-term home working; whether they apply to your setup depends on your working pattern.
If you are a display-screen-equipment user, the Health and Safety Executive says your employer must arrange an eye test when you ask for one. Discuss your working pattern with your employer if you are unsure whether you fall within that category.
No single monitor feature addresses the whole workstation. LG lists Reader Mode and Flicker Safe for the 27U631A-B, while Health and Safety Executive guidance also calls for attention to screen position, lighting, posture and breaks.
