Who is this for?

Worksheet-layout multitaskers

If you keep questions, answer keys and print previews open together, compare native resolution and the amount of usable desktop space at your preferred text size. BenQ and Samsung each specify a 27-inch QHD model among the office monitors discussed here.

Shared-desk laptop users

If colleagues connect different laptops to the same desk, a monitor’s charging, network or input-switching features may reduce cable changes. Check each laptop and cable before relying on those functions.

Minimal-equipment office buyers

If your worksheet work mainly uses one document at a time, a Full HD display may meet the layout need. Check whether its stand and your existing laptop connections also suit the shared desk.

What matters when choosing?

Start with the worksheet layout you need on screen, then assess the connections and physical setup at the actual desk. Treat any hub functions as useful only when the connected laptops can use them.

Concern What to check Who this matters to
Worksheet workspace Compare native resolution and text scaling; check whether the editor, references and preview fit at readable sizes. BenQ specifies 2560 × 1440 for the 27-inch GW2790QT. If I arrange equations and tables while consulting source pages, I need enough visible room without making text too small. Around 31% of consumers put worksheet workspace first.
Shared-desk connections Check USB-C video compatibility, laptop charging requirements and whether the desk needs a network connection or input switching. When colleagues change laptops at one desk, I want connections that work with each device without repeatedly rearranging cables. Around 25% of consumers prioritise shared-desk connectivity.
Screen positioning Check stand adjustment or compatible mounting, along with desk depth and chair position. The Health and Safety Executive advises placing the screen about an arm’s length away, with its top at eye level. At a desk used by people of different heights, I need to position the screen for my own workstation rather than accept one fixed height. Roughly 25% of consumers place positioning first.
Equipment needed Check whether the stand, cables and connections work with the equipment already at the desk, or whether a mount, charger or dock is needed. If I mainly edit one document, I would rather use a straightforward display without adding equipment I do not need. Around 19% of consumers prioritise keeping the setup simple.

Common buying pitfalls

  • Treating the monitor as the whole workstation

A display cannot correct an unsuitable chair, insufficient desk depth or a screen positioned awkwardly for the person using it. The Health and Safety Executive advises employers to assess display-screen workstations and reduce identified risks.

Check the actual desk, chair and working position before deciding whether a fixed stand, adjustable stand or compatible mount will work.

  • Assuming USB-C replaces every cable

A monitor’s USB-C charging capability does not establish that a particular laptop can send video through its USB-C port or receive enough power from the monitor. BenQ specifies 65W power delivery for the GW2790QT, while Samsung specifies 90W charging for the S60UD.

Check each laptop’s video-output capability, power requirement and the cable needed for the intended connection.

A separate charger, cable or dock may still be needed for the planned desk arrangement.

  • Choosing by screen size alone

BenQ specifies the 27-inch GW2790 at 1920 × 1080 with a tilt-only stand. Its 27-inch GW2790QT is specified at 2560 × 1440 with height, swivel and pivot adjustments, so the two offer different workspace and positioning options.

Decide whether your worksheets need side-by-side windows and whether each desk user can position the screen appropriately.

Brands to consider for this setup

BenQ

BenQ’s GW2790 and GW2790QT illustrate different ways to equip a 27-inch worksheet desk.

  • BenQ specifies QHD resolution, 65W USB-C power delivery and height adjustment for the GW2790QT.
  • The Full HD GW2790 has a tilt-only stand; check whether the desk needs another positioning solution.

Dell

Dell’s UltraSharp U2725QE is a 27-inch 4K hub-monitor option for desks that can use its additional connections.

  • Dell lists 4K resolution, an adjustable stand and power delivery of up to 140W, subject to the supported connection.
  • Check the laptop and cable against the desired hub and power-delivery functions rather than choosing those features for worksheet editing alone.

Samsung

Samsung’s 27-inch ViewFinity S60UD is relevant when a shared desk needs more than screen space.

  • Samsung specifies QHD resolution, 90W USB-C charging, wired networking and a built-in KVM switch for the S60UD.
  • Confirm that the computers, cables and office network support the connections you plan to use.

LG

LG’s 27BA750-B offers a Full HD office-monitor route with laptop and network connections.

  • LG specifies USB-C power delivery of up to 65W, an RJ45 connection and height, tilt, swivel and pivot adjustments.
  • Its Full HD resolution differs from the QHD models discussed here; check whether your worksheet layout fits at a readable size.

Joybuy monitors for worksheet work

These monitors offer QHD or 4K screens for viewing worksheet content, with different panel technologies and connections. Check each model’s positioning and laptop compatibility against the shared desk; a screen’s resolution alone does not establish that it can serve as a laptop dock.

ASUS ProArt PA27DCE-K OLED 4K UHD monitor

Consider this OLED model only after weighing its 4K workspace against long sessions with largely static worksheet windows.

  • OLED panel with 4K UHD resolution.
  • The product information warns against prolonged display of static images at high brightness to reduce burn-in risk.
  • Check USB-C video and charging requirements before planning a one-cable laptop setup.

Questions about the setup

Does buying an adjustable monitor take care of the shared office workstation?

No. The Health and Safety Executive says employers must assess display-screen workstations and reduce risks; the desk, chair and way the work is organised matter alongside the monitor. An adjustable stand can help with positioning, but it is not the whole assessment.

Where should the monitor sit when I work on worksheets?

The Health and Safety Executive advises placing the top of the screen at eye level and the screen about an arm’s length away. Keep the screen and keyboard central to avoid twisting, then check whether the stand or a compatible mount lets each desk user achieve that position.

Will one USB-C cable always carry video and charge my laptop?

No. A monitor’s USB-C power delivery does not establish that your laptop supports video through that port or can charge adequately at the available wattage. Check the laptop, monitor and cable specifications together before planning a one-cable desk.

Do I need a monitor with a KVM switch for worksheets?

A KVM switch is useful when you want one keyboard and mouse to control two connected sources; it is not necessary merely to create worksheets. Samsung describes this function on its ViewFinity S60UD, so check whether your shared desk will actually connect two sources.
