What matters when choosing?
Measure the working area and identify your computer’s video output first. Then decide whether screen positioning or extra vertical spreadsheet space matters more to you.
| Concern |
What to check |
Who this matters to |
| Desk fit |
Measure the complete width and depth with the stand, allowing space for cables. If considering an arm, check its mount and desk-clamp requirements. |
If tickets and a laptop already fill my desk, I need the display to leave room for recording proceeds. Around 40% of consumers put physical fit first. |
| Reading and positioning |
Compare native resolution and aspect ratio, then check height adjustment or a suitable mounting option. |
When I spend longer checking entries and totals, I want to see the sheet clearly and position the screen comfortably. Roughly 30% of consumers prioritise reading and positioning. |
| Computer connection |
Match the computer’s video output to the monitor’s input. Check USB-C video and charging functions separately if you need them. |
If I record proceeds on a laptop, I need a connection that works without buying hub features I cannot use. About 30% of consumers make connection compatibility their main concern. |
Relevant brands to consider
These model lines illustrate different stand, screen and connection choices; check the specifications of the exact model before deciding.
Dell
The P2425 and P2425HE address different spreadsheet and laptop-connection needs.
- Dell specifies a 24.07-inch, 1920 × 1200, 16:10 IPS panel and four-way stand adjustment for the P2425. Its taller resolution is worth considering if vertical spreadsheet space matters.
- The P2425’s downstream USB-C port is data-only; do not confuse it with the P2425HE’s USB-C hub and up to 90 W power delivery.
Lenovo ThinkVision
The T24i-30 offers an adjustable stand and a mounting option for a compact work area.
- Lenovo specifies a 23.8-inch Full HD IPS display, tilt, lift, swivel and pivot adjustment, and 100 × 100 mm VESA mounting.
- Its 1920 × 1080 resolution has fewer vertical pixels than a 1920 × 1200 display; a separate mount also needs to suit the desk and monitor.
ASUS
The VA24EQSB provides published dimensions and several ways to position the screen.
- ASUS specifies a 130 mm height-adjustment range, tilt, swivel, pivot and 100 × 100 mm VESA mounting for this model.
- Check its complete dimensions with the stand against the room left for tickets, paperwork and the recording computer.
BenQ
The GW2490E is a compact Full HD option with published overall dimensions.
- BenQ specifies a 540 × 408 × 182 mm overall size, 100 × 100 mm VESA mounting, two HDMI ports and one DisplayPort.
- Its supplied stand tilts but does not provide height adjustment; consider whether a compatible arm or another stand arrangement is needed.
LG
The 24BA550-B combines a Full HD IPS display with several stand adjustments.
- LG specifies height, swivel, tilt and pivot adjustment for the 23.8-inch 24BA550-B, alongside built-in speakers.
- Speakers and additional ports matter only if they serve your setup; check physical fit and the computer’s video connection first.

Common questions
What monitor size works on a small desk used for raffle records?
A 23.8–24-inch work monitor is a useful starting point, but the available width, height and stand depth determine whether it fits your desk. For comparison, ASUS lists the VA24EQSB at 54.04 × 45.08 × 21.14 cm with its stand, while BenQ lists the GW2490E at 540 × 408 × 182 mm. Leave room for your laptop, paperwork and cables as well.
Will any USB-C monitor work with my USB-C laptop?
No: check that the laptop can output video through its USB-C port and that the monitor accepts video through the connection you intend to use. Charging is a separate check. Dell specifies the P2425’s downstream USB-C port for data only, whereas the P2425HE is a different hub model offering up to 90 W power delivery.
Does a monitor take care of raffle-recording requirements?
No. A monitor displays the records kept by your computer or other source device. The Gambling Commission says the applicable rules depend on the type of raffle or lottery; its record-keeping requirements for licensed lottery operators should not be assumed to apply to every organiser. If you record identifying details, check how you will handle that personal data under the relevant guidance from the Information Commissioner’s Office.
When does a workstation assessment matter?
The Health and Safety Executive says employers must assess workstations for workers who use display screen equipment daily for continuous periods of an hour or more as part of their normal work. That does not establish the same employer duty for an occasional private raffle organiser. For a longer recording session, arranging the screen, furniture and paperwork sensibly still matters.
