Instructions for Use: Get the Best Performance from Your Hotpoint Dishwasher
To ensure your dishes come out sparkling clean and your appliance runs smoothly, please follow these important tips:
1. Initial Setup (Salt & Rinse Aid)
-
Water Softener:If you live in an area with hard water, it is essential to add specializedDishwasher Saltto the water softener compartment located in the base of the dishwasher. Open the lid and add salt, filling it with water for the first use. This helps prevent limescale from clouding your dishes.
-
Rinse Aid:Fill the rinse aid compartment, located on the inside of the door next to the detergent compartment, with rinse aid. This ensures your dishes come out dry and free of water spots or streaks. The machine’s control panel will light up to indicate when either needs refilling.
2. Loading the Dishwasher Correctly
-
Lower Rack:Place the heaviest and dirtiest dishes here—plates, pots, and soup bowls. Ensure that tall items do not block the rotating spray arm above the rack. If you need more space, you can lift the top rack.
-
Top Rack:For small and delicate items such as glasses, cups, small plates, and plastic containers (plastics are best placed on the top rack to prevent warping from heat).
-
Utensils:Place knives, forks, and spoons in the designated utensil basket.
Arrange utensils so that water can flow freely through them. For safety, place knives with the blades facing down.
3. Select the appropriate washing cycle
-
Eco 50°C:Standard washing cycle for lightly soiled dishes.
Longer cycle time, but uses the least water and energy. -
Intensive 65°C:High temperature and high pressure wash cycle designed to tackle stubborn dirt and stuck-on food residues on pots, pans, and grills.
-
Quick Wash 28' :Perfect for lightly soiled laundry that doesn't require drying, and also ideal for washing up after a party.
4. Essential Maintenance
-
Filter Cleaning:At the bottom of the machine, twist out the cylindrical filterWeeklyRinse with hot water, removing any food debris. Keeping the filter clean is essential to prevent odors and ensure perfect washing results every time.
-
Spray Arms:Occasionally check the spray arms for blockages, which can be caused by seeds or limescale. They can be easily removed, rinsed under the tap, and replaced.
Safety Warnings
- Electrical Safety: Plug into a grounded outlet; avoid water contact.
- Sharp Objects: Load knives blade-down in the utensil basket.
- Maintenance: Clean the filter weekly and check spray arms for blockages.
