Instructions for Use: Getting the Best from Your Hotpoint Dishwasher
To ensure your dishes come out sparkling and your appliance runs smoothly for years to come, follow these essential guidelines:
1. Installation & The Cabinet Door
Panel Required: As a fully integrated model, this dishwasher does not come with a finished front door. You must attach a wooden cabinet door (supplied by your kitchen retailer) to the front of the machine using the provided fixing kit so it matches your kitchen perfectly.
Plumbing: Ensure the waste hose is connected securely to your under-sink plumbing and is elevated slightly before it joins the pipe to prevent sink water from flowing back into the dishwasher.
2. First-Time Setup (Salt & Rinse Aid)
Water Softener: If you live in a hard water area, you must add dedicated Dishwasher Salt to the reservoir located at the bottom of the tub.
Unscrew the cap, fill it with salt, and top it up with water for the very first use. Rinse Aid: Fill the Rinse Aid dispenser located next to the detergent compartment on the inside of the door. This ensures your glasses dry without water spots or streaks. The machine will alert you via the LED display when either of these needs refilling.
3. Loading the Machine Correctly
Bottom Basket: Place your heaviest and most soiled items here—dinner plates, saucepans, and serving bowls. Ensure tall items do not block the spinning spray arm located just above the basket.
Top Basket: Use this for smaller, delicate items like glasses, mugs, and side plates. If you have tall plates in the bottom, you can raise the height of the top basket using the side clips.
Cutlery: Drop your knives, forks, and spoons into the provided basket.
Mix the silverware up (don't put all spoons in one slot) so the water can circulate freely between them.
4. Essential Maintenance
Clean the Filter: At the base of the machine, twist and remove the cylindrical filter once a week. Rinse it under a hot tap to remove trapped food debris. A clean filter is the secret to preventing bad odours and ensuring perfect wash results every time.
Self-Clean Cycle: Once every few months, run the dedicated Self-Clean programme with an empty machine and a proprietary dishwasher cleaner to flush out any hidden grease and limescale from the internal pipes.
Safety Warnings
- Electrical Safety: Plug into a grounded outlet; avoid water contact.
- Sharp Objects: Load knives blade-down in the cutlery basket.
- Maintenance: Clean the filter weekly and run the Self-Clean cycle monthly.
