Detailed Product Description
These professional 1200-grit silicon carbide sheets provide mirror-smooth surface preparation between coating stages. Engineered with self-lubricating abrasive technology, they generate a polishing slurry when wet that eliminates scratches in automotive clear coats, metal primers, and enamel finishes. The waterproof latex backing maintains integrity during extended immersion, while the 230×280mm dimensions optimize coverage on body panels and metalwork. Essential for achieving show-quality finishes on automotive restoration, marine applications, and metal fabrication.
Direction for Use
For the wet method, submerge the sheet in water for 2-3 minutes. Prepare a lubricant mixture of 500ml water and 5ml surfactant, apply it to the surface, and sand with light pressure in straight-line strokes. For the dry method, use only on bare metal, employing dust extraction and wearing a NIOSH P100 respirator. Maintain uniform pressure, replace the lubricant frequently, and rinse the surface between grit stages. For cleaning, rinse the sheet under running water and air-dry vertically.
Materials
Abrasive: Silicon carbide (1200 grit). Backing: Latex-impregnated cellulose paper. Bond: Resin overcoat.
Product Warnings
Wet sanding is only recommended for painted surfaces. Wear mandatory PPE, including EN 166 goggles and a NIOSH P100 respirator for dry use. Avoid breathing slurry mist as it contains crystalline silica. Never use solvents as lubricants. Discard sheets contaminated with lead or chromium. Store flat in a sealed container.
